New possibilities: Digital content learning

“When they moved on to questions, all but one child got everything right.”

Today we did our first Khan Academy video lesson. The first and older group seemed to grasp the concept being taught in the lesson. They showed understanding as they answered all of the questions correctly.

The low-need younger kids seemed to be struggling with a language barrier. They were concentrating on the drawing aspect, and not the bigger picture. I got them all to put their pens down and listen to it at least once. When they moved on to questions, all but one got everything right.

It was a lesson aimed at Grade 3 learners, and the kids watching the video were mostly in Grade 2. The group included Phumla, Mahlape, Refilwe, Thembi, Palesa and Lindiwe. Lindiwe was the one that struggled, and we suspect it was the language barrier.
